Round 8 New Members
Written by Tyme White on January 18, 2009
Below you’ll find the list of new members from Round 8. We will not be releasing statistics on how many sites submitted, the percentage of sites accepted vs. submitted, etc. This moment is about those sites that were accepted without the drain of analytical observations.
I’ll be talking about blog/site improvement later (you might want to follow my Twitter if you’re interested in that topic), so let’s get to the list shall we? I will be contacting new members this week to get them processed. I will make a separate entry to let everyone know once the emails have been sent.
On with the list…Congrats to the new members. I look forward to working with you.

Congratulations to everyone on the list–I’m sure you’re as tickled and excited as I am!
Thanks to 9rules for the review, consideration, and nod. As a relatively new blogger, I definitely appreciate the recognition. It means a lot.

Welcome to the club, folks
January 18th, 2009 at 9:45 pm
Wow, I made it! I have to say, when I first submitted Building Browsergames it was more on a whim than anything else; I wasn’t expecting for it to get this far.
Congratulations to everyone else who made it as well!
January 18th, 2009 at 10:32 pm
Bummer! Thought I’d done everything I was asked.
Congrats to those that made it, I guess it’s back to the drawing board for me.
January 18th, 2009 at 11:24 pm
I’d really be interested in hearing the reasons why my blog didn’t make it. Not defensive at all, I’d really really appreciate getting some honest feedback. I included my email for this comment.
Thanks!
January 18th, 2009 at 11:31 pm
Sorry to see I’m not on the list and congratulations to all of you who were accepted. That’s it for me folks. I’m not wanting to go through this again. I like my blog a lot and if it’s not 9 rules-worthy as it is now, it ain’t ever gonna be.
Congratulations once again.

[...] Today, I found out that I was accepted into 9rules. It was honestly a total shock. I had tried for round 7 and been rejected and tried again for 8 in November and in the intermediate two months had really given up hope on getting in, and was really at peace with that. I am really okay whether my journal becomes popular or not. That’s not what I do it for. I do this because I love to write. I always have and I most certainly always will. But nevertheless, being accepted into the so-called “elite” is still extremely encouraging. It means that my writing isn’t useless, isn’t irrelevant. And I can only hope that I continue to grow and expand my skills. [...]

Tyme, thank you for the time you took to get through (most probably) an enormous amount of blog and to come up with such an amazing list of additions to the 9rules list of bloggers.
I’m honored to be one of the chosen and I too look forward to working with you.
Sincere congratulations to each and every one on this list!

I would’ve loved to be in the selection, but I didn’t make it. I know what kind of work it is to go through all sites, so thank you very much for at least taking a look at my site.
I might submit again in the future, but first I’m going to add some more great content
January 19th, 2009 at 3:59 am
@Tim Brownson — like everything, what someone thinks is worthy, someone else sees as “Meh!” That’s just how it is — subjective.
Take my anime blog as an example. 9rules has never said squat to me about improving it or anything (and to be fair, I’ve never bothered them in this regard) but it isn’t worthy of entry into the 9rules system by their standards. That said, a big blog-rating place contacts me out of the blue, having reviewed my site. My blog has the highest score of all anime blogs listed there, beating out more popular anime blogs also listed here. What does that tell you?
Now, if someone has a suggestion on what they think will make a better blog, I’m all ears. My own blog recently went through a face-lift to make it more appealing. Content-wise, I’m drawing more and more people in each month, so I must be doing at least a little something right. ^_~
Still, to those who were accepted, congrats and I hope you get increased traffic

Congrats to the new members! You really demonstrated the ability to keep the quality of your site up during the holidays – which is always a challenge.
@AstroNerdBoy – You want to know what it tells me? Wait…let me find this:
http://blog.9rules.com/2008/11/round-7-site-feedback/
What is #2 on the list for common reasons why sites aren’t accepted?
We’ve NEVER done it. We’ve said it on the site. I’ve said it in feedback to current members who cared enough about their site to ASK WHY. We’ve said it in streams where people WATCHED US say “Blogspot banner” and skip over it.
So let me be very clear on what you did:
1. You submitted a site we publicly stated we don’t accept – and never have with the banner at the top.
2. Never bothered to ask WHY your site wasn’t accepted.
3. And spent time (instead of asking why) dropping attitude on our site.
I clicked on the banner that is on the top of your site this morning 5 times. 3 sites were not in English and 2 were soft porn.
And you’re asking what that tells me? What does that tell you?
To others that weren’t accepted: I don’t like saying no. I really don’t but I have a responsibility to our readers who expect the highest standard. Every round we get receive criticism for not being tough enough. I always point to this comment about one of our members because, unless the site is top notch, this is what could happen to you:
http://chawlk.com/the%20rulers/notes/1544/
Odds are, if not getting into 9rules bothers you, this type of criticism would bother you too.
So let’s have a discussion. Can YOU take that type of criticism about your site? Does your site live up to that type of criticism? What would your reaction be if your site received that type of criticism?
January 19th, 2009 at 8:26 am
Thank you so much for accepting my site. It’s an honor to be included with such a great group of writers!
January 19th, 2009 at 9:17 am
No issues… My blog couldn’t make the list
But would be open to hear some good feedback from anyone here, so that I can improve and submit to 9rules again…
Congrats to all those who made to the list…I am sure you will have a great relation with 9Rules and its readers.
Take Care. And please give me some feedback…please
January 19th, 2009 at 9:38 am
Please, I welcome any type of criticism at all. I’d really value criticism coming from the 9rules folks, again, my email is included in this comment. Hold back no punches, Thanks!
January 19th, 2009 at 10:00 am
I’ll be giving feedback once I finish processing the new members. Please send me an email to 9rulesTyme@gmail.com and please don’t forget your site URL.
January 19th, 2009 at 12:55 pm
Thank you for deeming my content worthy of inclusion in 9 Rules; I feel both flattered and honored, but mostly honored. I am definitely looking forward to being an active 9 Rules member.
January 19th, 2009 at 1:19 pm
Congrats to all the new bloggers!
I hadn’t heard about this before hand, but I will keep my eye open for the next round.

This 9Rules site brings to mind far more questions than answers.
Tyme please drop me an email when you get a chance, I have requested an overview of my denial through the email you put up.
I know if I do reapply next round and get accepted I will decidedly NOT gush “I am so honored” etc. as most all the new members are in this thread.
There are just too many variables when judging blogs. Respectfully, there are far more than 9.
Best wishes with 9Rules contuinued vision. I wish I could see it more clearly. Maybe you can help me.
January 26th, 2009 at 1:31 pm
Loads of congrats to everyone who made it – you deserve it!
Tyme, I’d really like some feedback on my blog. I’ve submitted the last two rounds, and I still haven’t been selected. I’d really like to know how I can improve and I’m open to any and all feedback. I’ve sent you an email asking for feedback as well.
Thanks for your consideration!

Are the feedback requests still being answered?
I emailed 9rulesTyme@gmail.com in mid-January, but haven’t yet heard back…should I keep waiting, or send a follow-up?
Thanks!
