This sounds like the last chance I might get to comment on the (reasonably) old latest revision of 9rules, so I'll use this post on the official blog instead of finally (after months) commenting on the note I once posted about the direction 9rules was taking ... and then forgot about because either I wasn't notified, had notifications trashed by my spam filter or ... had had one too many (sorry Tyme!).

I've made it known before that I would like to join 9rules again, no matter what the outcome, but I'd also like to say this:

I've gotten a bit weary about all of these changes around here and I'm just going to wait until August ... or later ... to see how things turn out.

I'm quite sure that many of the old regulars will not join up again (I might be completely wrong here), but from what I've seen on their sites they have simply moved on and, in many cases, up. They don't need to aggregate their content and it would take a whole lot of convincing to bring them back here.

I've been following all your posts on this (extremely ugly default [what, Kubrick?]) blog (form follows content and all of that) and what I want to say is this: After all these posts outlining what you want from a member blog I want to see you put into motion your own quality standards. In short, I want to wait and see who ends up here.

Sounds big-headed, but it isn't supposed to be. I'm quite sure you guys (and the gal) are going to pull it off again, but this time I myself I'm going to be a bit more guarded before I heap praise on you (besides Mike: I know he's going to present us with a spectacular design once again).

Despite your posts all around your own sites, I still think the most recent 9rules could have been a success (I do feel that some posts on the 9rulers sites said that the latest iteration was a mistake that needs to be rectified, but do correct me if I'm wrong ... maybe I'm reading too much between the lines).

I think the idea would have just needed a realignment. The community features, which DID make 9rules a much more democratic affair, just buried the members' material ... and that wasn't a good thing. I can't shake the feeling that 9rules is reverting to a more exclusive club (yeah, I know, please don't yell) once again. :)

No matter what - and I hope you know that - I wish you guys all the luck in the world to pull it off once more and give 9rules the proper "Phoenix-like" rising from the smoldering ashes that were a rather short-lived social network adventure (and that is now two distinctly separate sites).

Kudos, to all of you.
