So it’s Mike’s birthday today….

Written by Tyme White on March 26, 2007

Mike,

You’re 24 today. 24. Man, you’re getting old and you’re starting to feel that “one step closer to 30” pressure. Actually you’re one step closer to 25: the year when you can no longer get away with stuff you were once able to get away with. :) That “shocking” middle year before 30 where the expectation is raised but no one sent you the memo. Luckily for you, you don’t have to worry about that. Because you’re da man right now!

Mike, it’s been a little over a year since I “really” started working with you and I cannot express this enough: I’m glad you’re my business partner but more importantly, I’m glad you’re my friend. It’s so tempting to go into minute detail on how much you’ve grown this year to the point your Mom will smile all day with pride and your face will turn bright red so I’ll keep it short and say you have grown and matured this year. You’re learning to balance fun with responsibility/maturity and I’m proud of you.

Shame I don’t have a baby picture to insert right here
Yes, Tyme got sappy…I’m the girl, it’s expected

Happy Birthday Old Man. Scrivs declared today a National Holiday.

  1. Matthew Oliphant Says:

Happy bday, my friend. I opened my feeds before my calendar so this post was my reminder.

I recall you waiting for your 21st bday. I can’t believe we’ve known each other for that long. Lots of changes since our primary online presence was commenting on SVN. ;)

  2. Chris Says:

    Happy b-day Mike!

@Tyme: Why can’t the blog comments pre-fill in our info from our 9rules account? Just a thought.

  3. Tyme White Says:

Chris: I wondered about that too. It’s a Mike question and I won’t add it to the ToDo until tomorrow…since it’s a National Holiday today. :)

  4. Jerry Chacon Says:

    Happy B-Day Young Man.

Oh and Tyme…if you think 30 is a big one, watch out for 40.

  5. Ben G. Says:

Happy Birthday, Mike! man, you’re just a kid ;). At least, that’s what it seems like from my 28 year old point of view.

  6. Mike Rundle Says:

    Thanks everybody!

Chris: It’s because I suck and am lazy to be honest, it will be fixed :)

  7. Rose Says:

Happy Birthday- 24? Old? What I would not give to be that young again.

  8. Sean Says:

    Happy Birthday Mike.

24 is a nice age… one more step closer to 25 and cheaper car insurance :)

30 isn’t so bad… don’t let anyone scare you… but be warned… once you hit 25, the years go by really fast.

  9. Chris Says:

Mike: No worries. You do quite enough!

  10. Adam Michela Says:

    damn. i feel old.

  11. Alex Says:

24 is good. I am 24 too, making 25 in August and I swear I am not old :)

  12. Jack Says:

Well, Happy Birthday then sir! Many happy returns!

If you’re in San Francisco or the Bay Area, you should come celebrate with us Monday as we ring in one meeeeellllion blogs. (As well as the release of version 2.2 on .org and the 4 year birthday since the first public release of WordPress!)

We’re going to be at a fun dive bar in Potrero Hill called Thee Parkside. You can sign up here on Upcoming. (The neighborhood is so cool it even has its own WP blog.)

The festivities will start around 8 PM, so come on out and I’ll buy you a beer.

  14. Cheryl Says:

Since I don’t feel old, you shouldn’t either! This birthday wish is extremely belated since it’s early July and I just stumbled onto (into?) this entry. I wish for you the meaning behind the words of the song ‘Forever Young’.
