Round 5 List = 134 (so far)

Written by Tyme White on December 29, 2006

So I can intelligently answer this question when Mike or Scrivs asks me, here is the final list, as announced per day. Keep in mind I have a large list of people I need to contact so this number is going to increase.

  1. scottfrye Says:

Are those dates they day they where finalized?

Because I checked the previous posts and Sea Slugs was announced on the 12-20 not 12-21.

  2. Tyme White Says:

I updated the entry, thanks. I kept looking at that list in WP and I knew something was missing. Thanks again :)

  3. scottfrye Says:

I don’t wanna be nick picky but my site is missing as well. And now Sea Slugs is on twice.

  4. Tyme White Says:

    It was updating. Anything else?

  5. scottfrye Says:

Sorry about that. I jumped the gun there for a second.

  6. Tyme White Says:

It’s ok, I posted the list while our system was updating. People are hitting the site checking out the list…it slowed down mysql for a minute.

  7. brendan Says:

I seem to be missing from the list – I’m sure it’s just an oversight, right? :)

Of course – one now wonders if I’m on the ‘too crap’ list, or the ‘to be finalised’ list. :)

.. in all seriousness well done to the final 134er’s. There are some top shelf blogs in the list – congratulations.

  8. Ralph Dagza Says:

    134 (so far)

that means we still have a chance

  9. LorriM Says:

Congratulations to all the new additions!

I like the diversity of the Round 5 sites. There is certainly something there for everyone.

Happy New Year to Tyme, and everyone who worked so hard to complete the final list (so far) in Round 5!

You all deserve a big round of applause!

  10. cristinamarie Says:

    Still waiting.

  11. bloglily Says:

How lovely to be on this list. Thank you for including me. It’ll be fun and rewarding to be part of such a lively, diverse community.

And a huge thank you to Tyme, Mike and Scrivs for conducting this marathon so beautifully. I can’t imagine looking at 1100 of anything, and admire your stamina and dedication in going through the many blogs submitted this round.

Well done, and Happy New Year to each of you and all the terrific people who participate in 9rules, whether they’re on this list, or on earlier lists, or still waiting to find themselves there.

  12. Ryan Barr Says:

So, seeing as you seem to be coming down to the end of your list. Any ideas on the next submission round?

  13. Smaran Says:

I’m proud to be on that list. :-)

  14. impzie Says:

I am glad to be inside too. However, i have not received the email (i presume that it is lost in the earthquake networking in Asia). However, cheers to all who are inside and I can’t wait to know and learn from some of the great bloggers here.

    Cheers.

  15. Jeff Says:

I’m just wondering when we’ll get forum access.

  16. Tyme White Says:

Ryan: No idea but we will be doing things differently. :)

To answer the questions about forum access and email, I honestly don’t mean for this to sound “bad” but seriously, the answer is “when I finish processing you”.

Scrivs, Mike and I spent three weeks going through 1100+ sites during the holiday. Everyday, we went through sites grabbing time here and there to spend time with our families. That does not include the other times we went through the list previously. Or the new community pages Mike is working on. Or the enhancements to Notes Scrivs has been working on. Now it’s our turn to enjoy this long weekend because quite frankly, we’ve earned it.

I know you guys are excited, but we need some time off and I hope you guys can respect and understand that.

Have a great weekend everyone and Happy New Year!

  17. Ryan Says:

Wow! That list is pretty impressive. I don’t envy you 3 at all.

  18. J Phill Says:

You definitely deserve some time off! You all are impressive for working through the holidays.

  19. Jeff Says:

Sorry Tyme, I didn’t mean to sound ungrateful or impatient, I was just curious. I know you guys have been putting in overtime when everyone should be enjoying some time off.

Have a good weekend…you’ve earned more than that.

  20. David Says:

I am missing from the list…how odd…though I wasn’t yet accepted into 9rules, I figured you’d include me in the list anyways… (my attempt at humour, please don’t use your 9rules super powers to destroy me)

  21. Sunny Man Says:

Great list. Have a good new year celebration admins – you deserve it.

  22. labrat Says:

I’m still elated and doing the typical rookie “posting a comment every other minute” thing.

This is just amazing! Thanks so much for all your hard work during the holidays.

I’ll hang tight for the official email but you can take your sweet time. Enjoy your holidays!

  23. Ralph Dagza Says:

i wonder if my site is on the next list?

  24. Kyle Korleski Says:

Oh well, better luck next time.

  25. Will Says:

Pretty good (big) list. I only sampled a couple dozen of them and so far they all seem like great picks.

  26. cleez Says:

Hey…. i submitted info, and i am dure u have questions about my site. i have a feed to multiple parts of my site. Please email me for questions. looking forward to hearing from you

  27. impzie Says:

I do apologise for sounding anxious and I hope that it does not make you annoyed because the festive season is meant to be enjoyed. Cheers and have good fun for the new year!

*and it just passed for me after a nice party 2 hrs ago*

  28. Andre Says:

Ah well. Congrats to all of you that got in. :)

  29. Deepak Says:

I am looking forward to that email and participating in the community. and thanks to those who’ve already welcomed me in.

  30. Allen Stern Says:

Oh darn, doesn’t look like CenterNetworks made it. Congrats to all of those who did!

  31. Ashish Mohta Says:

how do i apply to join?

  32. codemac Says:

How do I keep missing out on these rounds…

Oh well, my redesign will be done soon enough so my blog doesn’t suck.

  33. cranky mama Says:

Seriously, guys, take a break! I’m pleased as punch to have made the list, but I’m not chomping the bit for my e-mail. When it comes, it comes! Thanks for your hard work and Happy New Year, all.

  34. Genie Says:

Thanks to the 9rules team for all your hard work during this selection period. I’m honored to have made the list and excited to get started as part of this terrific community!

    Genie

  35. Erno Hannink Says:

Really love the add from Happy at work – Alexander http://positivesharing.com/ I read his blog for a long time now. It is really a lot of fun.

  36. | TCRA Says:

[...] 1. Get accepted into 9 rules round six. It look like round five wasn’t my round so I need to keep working and improve myself as a writer and blogger. I want the leaf. [...]

  37. Katherine Says:

I would like to inquire about getting my blog listed – when is the next admin round?

  38. cooper Says:

I am of course disappointed that I didn’t make it. I just found this network a week or two prior to the admission and really didn’t look it over carefully or I would have known it is more “tech and revenue generating” oriented and very PC, which leaves me out completely.

I am happy to say I have found some great food blogs as well as design blogs which I have added to my reader though, so that will keep me busy.

    Cheers

  39. Chanpory Says:

I’m certainly disappointed as well, but hanging on to the hope that I’m in To Be Determined list. Nonetheless, it’s great to see the addition of amazing and previously unpublicized blogs added to list. It truly inspires and consoles me. Congratulations to all!

  40. Jeff Says:

cooper: If you notice at the bottom, there are many categories to 9rules that cover a wide range of topics, such as “Relationships”, and “Personal”.

I was accepted, but I rarely talk about tech or revenue generation. I have never had a single ad on my site, and my opinions are often anything but PC.

  41. Noel Kingsley Says:

Hearing that I’d been accepted into the 9 Rules community was a great New Year surprise. 007 is going to be a good year and it’s started well!
    Thanks.

  42. Andy Says:

I’m confused by this being a ‘final’ list but with talk of ‘increase’ – is it final, or no? I’m disappointed as it appears my site hasn’t made it and I can’t think right now of any reasons why not in terms of 9rules criteria. So I’m hoping for a clearer explanation as it really doesn’t appear to be that many sites when one considers the numbers that applied. x

  43. Brendan Says:

I doubt we’ll know anything more until the 9rules crew roll out of their holiday break – till then just sit tight. :)

  44. THAT Anime Blog v2.0 » 9rules acceptance finally official! T.H.A.T anime blog is loved! Says:

[...] However, when I went around to check about 9rules, I realized how great the blog network is and now I am very proud when we are accepted on 27th December 2006 and finally on the summary blog post in 9rules. That is really great recognition from one of the best blog network places for our blog and I have to admit how proud it is to be considered alongside great writers like Hinano, Jeff, Michael, Danny and Psgels, who are much more experienced in anime writing compared to the newest entrance at 4.5 months (me). Hence, I will hope that I continue to provide a different insight to anime blogging and perhaps some other things too. [...]

  45. Simon Says:

I keep missing the announcements :(

  46. nick Says:

    Hey Tyme,
how many more do you have to go through? No rush, just curious. It’s amazing to me how you can do this all!

  47. mel Says:

excellent list of sites. Thank you for all your hard work! You guys did great :)

    Happy New Year!

  48. Justin Kistner Says:

Tyme, do I correctly recall that you said it was cool if we asked why we didn’t make the cut to know what we should improve? If so, should I email you? If so, what’s your email addy? Thanks! :)

  49. Tyme White Says:

    Justin: yes 9rulesTyme [AT] gmail.com :)

  50. Ricardo Says:

Just got back from holiday trip and this last bunch of sites has just left me reading and rssing all day long… Some I already know well… others are gems just found! :)

    Congrats to all…

  51. Arthus Erea Says:

What’s this I see in my RSS? More acceptance (I think)!
    The Trout Underground
    Izzy Mom
    businessbytesgenesmolecules
    MindValleyLabs Internet Marketing Blog
    Travel Adventures
    Adam On Life
    shifting pixel
    Ion Cannon

  52. Jeremy Says:

Arthus Erea — It appears all of the sites you listed are already listed in the post above as accepted sites.

  53. Arthus Erea Says:

Yeah, they are. Darn, the glitch doesn’t reveal any top secret info. Still, could one of the rulers please fix the RSS feed so I actually see posts and not just random blog names.

  54. Jeremy Says:

    Hear, hear.

  55. Tyme White Says:

I brought this up to the guys but it’s the weekend so I don’t expect them to fix it until next week. Thanks for bringing it up. :)

  56. Arthus Erea Says:

Alright then, it’s fine for now since I just marked them all as read. It was just slightly annoying for a while.

By they way, Tyme, ANSWER ME EMAILS! :) (kidding) I know you’re busy. :)

  57. Hans Says:

Yeah, my emails too! No, seriously, you must be drowning under a flood of emails from rookies like me.
It’s just that I don’t want to keep on spoiling the Photography community page all the time (it’s kinda broken, and there’s no thumbnail for Lumilux).

Anyway, you’ve done a magnificent job, Tyme… I’m surprised you have enough time to reply to comments!

  58. Eddie Says:

    Hey Tyme,

I shot you an email a week or so ago. Just a heads up.

    Thanks.

  59. David Fiske Says:

I have been checking this site for ages for a new round of entries.

Appear to keep missing them :-(

  60. Alexander Says:

I suppose the rejects never find out what they were missing due to the volume of submissions?

I wasn’t expecting to make the cut but I sure was curious to find out what was lacking :) too specialized perhaps?

  61. Tyme White Says:

As I said before I was not going to answer the “why I didn’t get in” emails until after I finish contacting the people on my questions list, because there are duplicates. Because of the holidays some people are just not getting back into their normal habits and are responding to emails.

So I haven’t forgotten – just going through them thoroughly. :)

  62. Alexander Says:

No rush, but does that mean I should send an actual email if I’m curious? :)

  63. Big Daddy Says:

When are submissions being accepted again. Our blog has become very popular and we’d love to share it… It focuses on pro wrestling and mixed martial arts. Features interviews (podcasts) columns from well known talent in the industry, and a lot more. http://www.thaOshow.com

  64. Aran Says:

I just signed up, and love the site look and feel!

Would you ever consider having blog design contests?

I just finished our nature based blog in the emily carr style that we love here on Vancouver Island.

    http://www.studio7designs.com/blog.cfm

Thanks and I look forward to reading more!

  65. Michelle Says:

I understand that 9 Rules can accept or reject whom they wish but it is so darn exclusive why does it clearly state on this page:

    http://9rules.com/about/

under “Joining” that “Anyone can join 9rules — you don’t have to be well-known, networked, rich, successful, or beautiful — but you do have to have a fiery passion for the medium.”

This just isn’t true. How many submissions did you have and how many were accepted? A pretty small percent I’d expect given the numbers you were announcing during that 5th round.

I’d be curious to see what your criteria were, since the ones listed under “Joining” obviously don’t include everything. Is it based on links? Uniques? I’ve emailed twice to find out what had happened and never heard back from anyone.

  66. Mike Rundle Says:

Michelle, if you read a little bit further down the page you’ll see this quote:

“So far we’ve had three, 24-hour submission rounds with hundreds of blogs trying to get in, but only the very best make it. Read more about what we look for when evaluating sites who want to join 9rules.”

So we say that we have 24-hour submission rounds, that only the blogs who meet our criteria make it, then we link to a blog entry where we outline what we look for. Link.

  67. Manoj Sharma Says:

    Hi!

I am running a corporate blog for http://www.DifferWorld.com at the above URL and I believe the content would be of great value on 9rules under either Business or Education. Where do you see it fit and how do I go about it?

    Manoj

  68. Martin Says:

Since you didn’t specify who you are talking to, I’ll assume you’re asking me so – I’ll see fit that you and other people should stop advertising your crap here and go read the rules.

  69. Eddie Says:

Hey Tyme – Just wondering if you had gotten my email. It’s been a few weeks without a reply now. I wouldn’t normally say anything, but I had emailed you before without a response. Just hoping for a relatively quick answer.

    Thanks.

  70. Tyme White Says:

Yes, I got it. About 500 of them. :) Here’s my schedule:

This week knock out the pile stuff Scrivs put on my desk and other misc. 9rules stuff.

Next week: start in on those emails.

And I am still going through the questions list. I hope to finish those this week.

  71. brendan Says:

    Tyme,

I haven’t emailed, purely because I didn’t want to add to the weight of email. However reading your comment, it’s safe to say that really, few if any left to ‘follow up’ on will make 9rules this submission?

So rather than hang out indefinitely, which is just as much a waste of your time as mine – I’ll wait till the next round.

Either we make the cut, or we don’t.. farting around with content or whatever to squeeze in to some pre-made box to enter 9rules just doesn’t strike me as a whole heap of fun.

It’s one thing to (be encouraged to) get better at one’s craft – imho quite another to have to ‘change’ to meet someone else’s idea of a good time.

It’s been fun – I’ll try next round.

  72. nick Says:

Tyme about the questions list, are there more people you need to e-mail w/ questions or are you waiting for them to reply? Sorry for bugging you, with little stuff like this.

  73. Andy Says:

I get more confused the more I read the comments here. I’m still no clearer on whether this is really the final list or not, or whether there are more sites yet to come or have enquiries made of their owners, or whatever. It seems there were so many more people applying to join this submission round… but less made it through? I haven’t emailed because I imagine there’s an intimidatingly large heap of emails and I don’t really want to add to them. That said, I’d really like some clarity as things seem clear as mud in yer eye… Many thanks! x

  74. 9 rules to completion › Smack Foo Says:

[...] Now, you may be asking why I’m sharing this, and why today? Well, it’s a combination of factors including a realisation that I needed some clear rules to follow for my own projects, as well as being not the least bit frustrated by the somewhat haphazard (rule 5) finish to the now not-so-recent 9rules round 5. [...]

  75. Brendan Says:

.. it would appear there are simply more pressing matters at hand, than cleaning up post round 5 (this isn’t a dig, it’s simply observation).

It would almost be less painful if round 5 stays as it stands and any ‘to be confirmed” were simply added on a ‘case–by-case’ basis. It’s not at all an unusual suggestion, as sites are indeed added from time-to-time irrespective of any rounds.

At least then we could all move on. :)

  76. Quilt Epiphany Blog—Musings on Quilts and Quilting » The 2000 Bloggers Connection Says:

[...] I thought, what the heck? Might as well join in. Since then, I’ve had a lot of traffic, of course, and I do hope that the folks who have stopped by have enjoyed, and possibly become regular readers. I think the whole project is interesting, and has spawned another whole “community” inside the blogging community. Speaking of community, I found the 2000 Bloggers project through 9rules, another sort of blogging community, where I’ve been hanging out a lot recently. 9rules is about great content, interesting blogs and fun people. I did submit this site to Round 5 hoping to be accepted as a member, but the jury that is Mike, Scrivs and Tyme is still out on that one. You don’t have to be a member to enjoy 9rules, of course, and I spend quite a bit of time over there lately in the Notes section, chatting with folks from around the world. Who knows, I might be the token textile artist over there. I’m trying to write the right mix of quilts and quilting, cats, fun, and life. Sometimes those things juxtapose, and, well, sometimes they absolutely don’t! [...]

  77. nick Says:

Brendan, I know you wrote that a while ago but I just wanted to say I agree with that!

  78. Eddie Says:

    Hey Tyme,

Just me again. It’s been about another month. Have you had a chance to check my email?

    Thanks.

  79. saran Says:

Tyme, I have sent an email a month ago, I am not sure whether you got it or not…

    Kind rgrds
    saran

  80. Aaron Says:

Wow, this process is still going on?

  81. Marketing.fm » Marketing.fm Turns 1 Year Old Says:

[...] We were invited to join the 9Rules blog network on 12/18/06. We are a part of the round 5 9rules members and could not be happier with being included! I have met some amazing people and even connected with some great service providers helping us improve the site. [...]

  82. Welcome to 2007! | Personal Development Blog Says:

[...] The official part of joining the network is yet to follow, but I’m already a number 99 on the round 5 list of accepted blogs.. [...]

  83. Matt Belcher Says:

    Cool list!

It’s handy to have this as I spend way too much time looking at random sites.

    Thanks
    Matt

  84. Matt Belcher Says:

    List! What a list.

How do you get in the network?

    Matt
