9rules Round 5 Contest
Written by Scrivs on October 24, 2006
Wish I could’ve gotten this info out sooner, but the details just got ironed out. Our wonderful hosts at Media Temple wanted to join in on the Round 5 action and have graciously donated three accounts to their new Grid-Server hosting program for us to give away. One account is life-time hosting, while the other two accounts come at a 50% discount. You could find cheaper hosting for sure, but with the case of (mt) you definitely get what you pay for and we have yet to be disappointed with them.
So how does one go about getting one of these special accounts? Well it won’t be easy. First you have to get into 9rules via Round 5 and then our Members will be presented with the new inductees and vote for their favorite three sites. The top 3 get the accounts, so as you can see it won’t be easy, but well worth it to the deserving winners.
9rules Members themselves get a 30% discount on (mt) hosting so nobody is ever left out of the goodies that 9rules provides its Members. As of this writing there is 6.5 hours till Game Time. See you soon.

Let’s just assume that every site submitted is crap, can we play a round of Cincinnati High/Low for the accounts in the clubhouse?.

Yeah timing was a bit off for the you current members. Sorry.

Just curious: how does the 30% off work for those that already use Media Temple and buy by the year?

I wasn’t going to submit tomorrow, but now how can I not? Seriously though, that’s a sweet deal.

My hosting server crashed, and my site is down the day before the 9rules contest. Can I just have my heart attack now? I’m picturing my submission request saying, “No, really, it’s good, trust me. Look at the Google cache.” That’ll fit well with the 2,000 other competent submissions.

Good deal, even if it is a long shot. Of course, I will still think about how much we love our host, or not.

Cool! Can I pile it for my next year’s hosting?? I just upgraded from MT’s (ss) plan to a (gs) plan… it is very cool!

ptvGuy: Mine too. You have dreamhost?

ptvGuy, don’t worry about your site being down. I know the 9rules crew comes and checks your site again if it happens to be down. I ran into that case when I submitted my site. A story I wrote hit the front page of Digg and my site was down and out for over 24 hours. Someone from 9rules attempted to get to my site during that time, and later told me they rechecked it a week later and it was up. Considering I’m in 9rules, I wouldn’t worry. These things happen and the 9rules crew considers that.

A life-time hosting. That’s really cool! MT is pretty solid hosting.
Now if we could only get a life-time supply of rice-a-roni too, that would rock

Lifetime supply of Bawls would be cooler. =D

Wow… Life Time, If I win I don’t need to bother about Hosting for a life time. That’s really cool.
Infact I was even thinking of moving on to MT next month.

Hmm, Bawls would be ok, but I’d personally prefer a lifetime supply of Guinness.

A life time supply of pretty much anything is good

Having just migrated to (gs) from shared server hosting, I can happily report it is seriously cool.

Thanks, Ronald. It’s good to know that. As it turns out, my hosting company, Aptus Hosting, worked round the clock to get me back up just in time to submit my site to 9rules. Of course, it benefited all their other customers as well, but I’m sure that was just a side consideration. ;>
