The First 9rules Schwag: 1″ Pins

Written by Scrivs on July 31, 2006

Over the past year we have received a couple of queries about whether 9rules offers any schwag. Surprisingly the answer was no…until now. Our first official piece of schwag comes in the form of a 1″ Pin. Our first batch is only 200 deep and our Members are already scooping them up.

To purchase a pin or two or ten simply send $5 for each pin to payment{AT}9rules.com (yeah we need a store, we know). $5 for a pin? Well you get more than that. Each person that purchases a pin will get the url of their choosing (nothing too raunchy of course) on our 9rules Friends page (coming soon) in recognition of their support for 9rules. The more pins you buy, the more links you get. Simply include the information on the Paypal payment page and you are good to go. Not sure how long the urls will stay up since over time the page will fill up fast, but you are guaranteed at least 3 months.

Pins will ship this Friday.

  1. Derek Says:

Now those pins are cool. I’m going to have to get one of those to add to my bag. Are those standard 1″ pins from Mammoth?

  2. weisheng Says:

Do you ship to the UK?

  3. Scrivs Says:

    Yes.

  4. Andrew Says:

Cool pins, why not start a 9rules shop on prickie? How much is shipping to the UK?

  5. Scrivs Says:

Prickie looks cool, I’ll have to look more into it. I’m sure shipping an envelope to the UK isn’t much so I would say don’t worry about it (*inserts foot into mouth).

  6. Lelia Katherine Thomas Says:

What about shipping to Oz? O_o

  7. Scrivs Says:

Easiest place in the world to ship to. Just 3 clicks of the heel.

  8. Sally Carson Says:

You know you’ve made it when you can charge $5 for a 1″ pin. I’m sure they’ll sell out hella fast too. Congrats fellas.

  9. Scrivs Says:

Obvioulsy once more schwag comes in we can offer package deals and that’s why we are creating the 9rules Friends page to balance things out. Now I expect you to buy 10 of them Sally since you love us so much. Hell, buy 10 and I’ll throw in one for free :P

  10. Sally Carson Says:

Haha, yeah, I’m talkin’ shit, but you know I want one…

I finally sent Matt O. a Fixpert shirt after I told him I would at SXSW, I gotta get one out to you and Mike too if you’re interested. I’m giving them out for free since it was just a screenprinting experiment and some of the work is shotty.

  11. Matthew Oliphant Says:

Did you use the proper vowel for that last word? :P

My daughter loves her shirt. “Super Girl rides a bicycle!”

  12. Sally Carson Says:

    Awesome!!

  13. Scrivs Says:

Oh you know I gots to get up on one. I’ll shoot you my info.

  14. Scrivs Says:

Oh sorry Derek, yeah they are from Mammoth.

  15. Michael Says:

We are now officially a cult. Yeah!

  16. Paul Stamatiou Says:

    http://mammothprintshop.com
I’ve used them a bunch - great service.

  17. Chris Says:

Wow, these are awesome. I’ll have to order some. By the way, that photo totally needs to have levels run in Photoshop and sharpened. Just saying. ;-)

  18. Dan Cameron Says:

So how many do I have to buy in order to submit a very late application? ;)

Anyways, what do you mean by a “url of our choice”.

    Thanks.

  19. ranvier Says:

Do ya send to SG? Erm…without damaging it? :D

  20. Scrivs Says:

Well I know not everyone has a blog of their own, so maybe they wish to promote another site. Where in the hell is SG?

  21. Cem Says:

‘now what? Your (rectangular) banner on your frontpage is a way more interesting form as a pin as the actual schwag.

Why don’t you try it? It looks like the ribbon bar of a medal … cool.

  22. ranvier Says:

    Singapore.

  23. Scrivs Says:

    Never hurts to try :-)

  24. Scrivs Says:

Cem: Maybe that will come in the 3rd edition.

  25. Ryan Barr Says:

Send $5 to that e-mail via PayPal I am assuming? Also, estimate of how many are left?

  26. seanrox Says:

I just purchased four pins. You should do a shirt next. Those would sell for sure.

  27. Ryan Barr Says:

Meh, I just sent the payment to the PayPal. Relief hit when it said sent to Paul Scrivens. *Phew* I didn’t want to not be able to get one. =P

  28. William Brown Says:

Hopefully there will still be some available tomorrow. I only have 3 bucks in bank atm.

If you guys are going to do more pins I suggest maybe a little contest to design the color of the leaf for the pin.

  29. Montoya Says:

Next schwag should be shirts, yes.

  30. Andrew Says:

I agree with Montoya, Shirts with a big colourful 9rules leaf in the middle

  31. seanrox Says:

Andrew: I had mentioned shirts first ;)

A good friend of mine is in the silkscreen business, so I could get you some really nice pricing for shirts.

I’m actually getting some done for my site and the price worked out to be around $2.00 a shirt my cost after a set up fee around $50.00, so there is a lot of room to make some money as most shirts sell from $10.00 - $20.00 each for nice shirts.

  32. Jordan T-H Says:

    $5 for a pin! Yikes.

  33. Andre Says:

    Any left?

  34. Sean Says:

Just out of curiosity for my own pins, can these pins be sent in a regular letter envolope for the regular letter cost?

  35. foreman Says:

Sean, I wouldn’t send pins in a regular envelope. The envelope almost ALWAYS tears and arrives empty. I always use small padded (bubble-type) or tyvek envelopes. A 6×9 padded envelope costs $0.63 for up to about 10 pins.

  36. Paul Stamatiou Says:

I’ve sent my pins in regular envelopes before and it works just fine. I would, however, recommend wrapping the pin(s) in a bit of paper first

  37. Sean Says:

And a regular stamp works good?

  38. Ryan Barr Says:

Where is my button? It was supposed to be sent out last Friday… its over a week later. Where oh where could my button be.

  39. Scrivs Says:

Yeah there was a mishap with the envelopes as the Post Office deemed my writing illegible :-( They are on their way.

  40. Ryan Barr Says:

    Ohhh Scrivs, you goose. XD

  41. Dennis Says:

Do you have any pins left?

  42. Sam Says:

Glad to hear they are on their way. I was just going to check and see if they had been sent. When do we get to put our websites up on the 9rules friends list?

  43. ~TheAngel~ Says:

    I like that button :)

  44. Melissa Petri Says:

how about a shirt, Scrivs? When would that be ready? ;-)

  45. Lindsey Says:

Just wondering if they have the been shipped yet? I’ve still not recieved mine.

  46. seanrox Says:

Like Lindsey, I ordered and paid for 4 pins on August 1 and as of today August 21, still no pins. Would be nice for a heads up on this.

  47. Matt Davey Says:

Mine haven’t been recieved either! Would be nice for an update.

  48. Scrivs Says:

All pins have been sent out. If you haven’t received them by Friday please let me know.

  49. Peter Dorsi Says:

    Any pins left?

  50. Matt Davey Says:

Haven’t Recieved My Pin Yet Scrivs, Sorry!

  51. Lindsey Says:

Same here, just received the mail, no pin :(

PS. I so would dig a shirt if the future should bring one.

  52. eric Says:

that makes 3, i didn’t got mine today either

  53. seanrox Says:

Mail came and went today. No pins for me either. I paid on August 1 it’s now August 25. Any status update? I’ve been receiving mail from other countries quicker then this.

  54. Tyme White Says:

I talked to Scrivs yesterday and he said they all went out. Scrivs won’t be back until Monday (he was moving this week) and I will definitely talk to him about it.

  55. Dan Says:

Mine hasn’t arrived yet either. I’m in the UK so I’d expect it to take a while longer, but it’s still been a fortnight since you posted them.

  56. reverend gisher Says:

yes, fine, but where are the nachos?

  57. seanrox Says:

Another day with lots of mail but nothing with 9rules pins, however because reverend gisher mentioned nachos, I whipped some up. MMM yummy nachos :)

  58. Ryan Barr Says:

Sigh, becoming a tad impatient here. I too paid on the 1st, and still no pin. Most likely if it is on its way I will receive it tomorrow. If I do not, I am going to be very upset.

  59. weisheng Says:

Besides the pins, is there a 9rules Friends page going up anytime soon?

  60. Scrivs Says:
