Round 4: 9 Hours Left and a New Record Set

Written by Scrivs on May 17, 2006

We have about 9 hours left till Round 4 comes to an end and I am very proud to say that we have broken last round’s record of 509 sites. Funny that it happened at the 9 hour remaining mark, but that’s how we do things here at 9rules I suppose.

To put things into a bit of perspective if we accepted every site that submitted in our first four rounds we could easily have over 1,500 sites in this Network in a little over a year, which would bring about its own benefits, but certainly wouldn’t distinguish us from a web directory. For this I’d like to thank everyone who has supported us in our quest for quality content and not simply trying to pump out one site after another.

Keep em coming.

Round 4: 9 Hours in and 290 Submissions Later

Written by Scrivs on May 17, 2006

I find it fitting that after staying up for 24 hours yesterday (finally went to bed at 3:30) I wake up at 9am to checkup on how Round 4 is working out and I am very happy to say that so far we have over 290 submissions to join our Community! If things continue like this we will easily beat last rounds record of 509 sites (I think that was the number) so continue to submit your sites if you have not done so already.

The diversity being shown in the submissions this round is awesome and it looks like we might be opening up some new communities to handle the new topics. Look for more updates later today.

Round 4 Open

Written by Scrivs on May 16, 2006

We have been waiting for this one for some time now and I am happy to say that the doors for Round 4 are now open. We are really looking forward to seeing what this round brings our Network since after this we will be bringing out a new 9rules which these sites will up usher in.

This is Tyme’s first submission round from the inside so she is very excited and I can honestly say that I never get tired of these. It’s always refreshing to come across brand new content that you have never seen before and it’s great to know that people are doing their best to make the independent web a better place.

Best of luck to all who submit.

Update by Colin D: Wow, these submissions are coming in faster than ever. I had to put in some throttling, so if you get a bad message, just submit again. Don’t let a little error message deter you. Good luck!

Let’s kill the myth

Written by Tyme White on May 15, 2006

I am often asked what we will be looking for in regards to accepting sites for Round 4. Scrivs did a series on what we look for in a site: consistency, design and audience participation. The questions I receive most are about forming new communities that are not technology related…because 9rules seems geared towards technology sites.

This is a myth.

I’m leaving the tech sites to the guys. I’m looking for all the other goodies to take 9rules in a broader direction. I spend a lot of time interacting with readers to see what they want. What topics are they interested in? I spend a lot of time interacting with members on how to make 9rules better. Upcoming features to 9rules will tighten the gap between members and non-members. So what does this mean?

If you have a non-tech site, submit it.
If you have a podcast, submit it.
If you have a videocast, submit it.
If you have a recommendation about forming a community, talk to me.
If you can dance…why haven’t we heard from you yet?

Be prepared for round 4

Written by Colin Devroe on May 15, 2006

Tomorrow night (aka Wednesday morning at 12am), we’ll be opening up our doors for the Round 4 submission round. What should you have prepared? You just need your name, email address, web site address, and a short description of your site. That’s it!

I wanted to make something clear for our those submitting their site. I live in Pennsylvania, and I am generally the person that turns things on and off on our site. So, that being said, all times for our submission round are in the Eastern Standard Time. Where 12am EST and 11:59pm EST fall in your respective time zones throughout the globe, I am not sure. But suffice to say, everyone gets the same amount of time to submit their site – 24 hours.

We’re really excited for this round, and we can’t wait to see some of the great sites we all love being submitted, as well as discovering all new sites that are equally as great.

On Wednesday, you could be the next American Idol… I mean, 9rules Network Member.
