Let’s kill the myth
Written by Tyme White on May 15, 2006
I am often asked what we will be looking for in regards to accepting sites for Round 4. Scrivs did a series on what we look for in a site: consistency, design and audience participation. The questions I receive most are about forming new communities that are not technology related…because 9rules seems geared towards technology sites.
This is a myth.
I’m leaving the tech sites to the guys. I’m looking for all the other goodies to take 9rules in a broader direction. I spend a lot of time interacting with readers to see what they want. What topics are they interested in? I spend a lot of time interacting with members on how to make 9rules better. Upcoming features to 9rules will tighten the gap between members and non-members. So what does this mean?
If you have a non-tech site, submit it.
If you have a podcast, submit it.
If you have a videocast, submit it.
If you have a recommendation about forming a community, talk to me.
If you can dance…why haven’t we heard from you yet?

Thank you for the clarification Tyme!

Anyone who can dance is alway welcome.
We don’t have a single member yet who can.

Damn, I need to learn how to dance..

I can hula hoop
Could teach you that?

So that means tech sites don’t have a chance in this round?
(Really sad because I’ve been gearing up for this for months, ever since I missed out on the last one)

Sid, submit your site! Matter of fact, on the submission form make a reference to this comment so I know it’s your site. I can’t guarantee admission into the network but I really want to check out your site since you’re been working on it so long.
My entry was to kill the myth that only tech sites should submit. I didn’t realize how many bloggers did not think about submitting their sites because their site wasn’t design or tech related.
Jessica - Wow, does that bring back memories.
Michael - You’re quite welcome.
Volkher - Bryan has some cool moves

Sorry to be dense, but where do we email our submissions too?

When the submission round opens, come here and fill out the submission form (your name, email address, web site address, and a short description of your site).

Really looking forward to give this a try

Oops, I found the contact@9rules.com address and submitted there already. OK, I’ll watch for it.

Tyme - I’ve seen the moves (plus some others) and THEN left my comment here. [Pity we don’t have one of those devil smileys here … I’ll just leave a “har, har, har” then).

Looks to me like an environment community (covering sustainability, energy, global warming, etc…) would be a great addition to 9rules.
I’ll be applying tonight. Hopefully you guys and gals at 9rules think so too.

Maybe you should create a tumblelog community!

This post just boost my crumbling confidence little bit. Does it count if you write really good prose, and offers desktop wallpapers for download? Anyway, good luck to the monk!

Only a few more hours away, I’ve been pumped since I found out about Round 4, I can’t wait, and I really hope I can dawn that shiny 9Rules logo

Well I might not be able to dance, but I can damn well sing any 9rules member into submission…
I’d happily submit my site, but sadly all I have to bring to the network would be profanity in plentiful supply…
It’s a pity that wasn’t on your list really…
