We Don’t Want Just One

Christian Montoya has put together a great entry asking why there aren’t other networks like 9rules, but what is interesting is that there are other networks like 9rules. There just aren’t any other networks like 9rules if you catch my drift.
We would never want to be the only ones in this space because we love competition. We love seeing what others bring to the table because we know that can only make us better. What we do is no secret. Maybe there is a secret formula that I have yet to write down, but otherwise everything is laid out on the table.
So why do people feel there is only one network like us? I can’t say for sure, but I do share my thoughts over at Whitespace, but it’s good to know that people want to see more 9rules because that means they want to see a lot more quality content floating around the web and we have to agree.

I suspect that the answer is that you guys aren’t greedy. Does that make sense? Not greedy for power, money and popularity. Well at least you’re not for the wrong reasons. While there are plentty of web 2.0 companies out there that want to make a quick buck, 9rules is a community that will gain power over time.
If you slowly build up a community without worrying so much about instant gradification, then you’re going to create a strong robust network.
It’s tough to be the child star of the internet and 9rules knows that it needs to mature before it can “make it big”.

All of this talk about “good content” makes me wistful for a cleanup of the Philosophy community.
The current archives are painfully thin on actual philosophy because they seem to include all posts from the philosophy member blogs instead of just those in the philosophy category.
It’d be great if that restriction was added. For now, the philosophy feed is staying out of my reader.
9rules does have good content, though. Just keep it restricted to its proper zone.
