Spare Some Dough For Chris Rhee
Written by Mike Rundle on April 23, 2006
Hey everybody, got some pretty crappy news. Our friend and 9rules member Chris Rhee had $5,000 worth of equipment stolen from his car last week while shooting in San Francisco for his new stop tape collaborative venture.
He’s trying to fundraise the dough community-style, and your contribution will help get back things like a 15″ PowerBook, Canon S400 camera, 200GB external hard drive, and a lot more.
Please stop by the fundraising part of his site and donate what you can. If we can get 1000 people to donate just $5 each, we can make it back for him in a hurry. Thanks everyone.

Probably should have locked the car, no?
Good luck with your fund raising.

Every dollar probably counts so I’ve chipped in a bit. 1000 people to do the minimum doesn’t sound like too hard a challenge.

Donations are usually tough for cardless kids like me, but now you too can help! Checks and money can be sent to.

No offense, but.. why would we donate to give you cool equipment?
Why don’t you donate to give me cool equipment?
Besides, that shit should be covered under your car insurance.

Thanks a lot for this post, Mike (and others who have helped spread the word). The fund raiser is off to a pretty good start, thanks to the 9rules gang.
*Chris Gwynne:* I haven’t posted my version of what happened on the site, yet, but to answer your question: the car battery for my friend’s car died. So when he pressed the door lock button, the doors didn’t actually lock. It was my 2nd time in that car so I didn’t even think to double check.

Support for 9ruler Chris Rhee

Joe:
It’s not covered under his insurance. Anything stolen from a car must be permanently attached to the cart to be covered under insurance… a part of the car. Chris is screwed. You don’t have to help him… others will because they’re nice and feel bad for him.

Chris, you don’t happen to have renters or homeowners insurance do you? Then your stuff would be covered no matter (usually) whose car your stuff is in.
April 24th, 2006 at 6:53 pm
I doubt they’d pay out would they?
The car was left unlocked for x amount of time.

I hope he gets his stuff back or gets enough donations to buy new ones. I hope my donation helped.
