The Poker Blog
Written by Scrivs on November 22, 2005
Not sure how many people are aware of this but I used to run a poker blog and what’s funny is that I didn’t know a damn thing about poker. I sold the site off a while ago and still think of what it might have been if I had stuck with it. Unfortunately (and fortunately for the Network) it would have not even compared to The Poker Blog. Ben and Steve have come together to form a very comprehensive site for amateurs and professionals to enjoy.
The Poker Blog is written by two amateur poker players (Ben and Steve) who love the game. It’s full of poker news, stories, and product reviews. We will never write a bad beat story, we promise. We enjoy sharing our experiences and what we learn while playing the game and hopefully we can help our visitors avoid some of the mistakes we have made.
Welcome Ben and Steve.
I Remember
Written by Scrivs on November 22, 2005
One of the best reasons to maintain a blog of your own is to use it as a sort of journal/diary to record your memories. I Remember, by Andy Detskas, is just that kind of site, but a little bit different. Each entry is no more than a couple of sentences, but those sentences seem to say so much that they trigger some of my own memories. Quality content has never been about the quantity of words on the page, but the actual words you get to read and each word on I Remember is worth the time to soak in.
Andy Detskas’ “I remember” is a blog inspired by (but not associated with) the book “Joe Brainard: I Remember” by Ron Padgett and Joe Brainard. The purpose of this blog is to capture and remember a moment in a torrent of moments that compose the stories and events of Detskas’ life. Each post begins with the refrain “I remember” and briefly reminiscences about an event from the author’s past. As memories go, this blog runs the gamut of experiences and feelings one would expect from remembering the past. There are deeply personal as well as universal themes abound in these funny, intriguing, and heartfelt posts.
Welcome Andy.

If memory serves me correctly Kyle Neath was what I call one of the “originals” with regards to commenting on Whitespace and Work Boxers. He has been commenting on my sites for a while so the name and site are familiar to me and it’s great to finally add him to our Network. Like many other sites in the Network, Kyle has a lot of interests and has no problem discussing any of them on his site. Some short entries mixed in with longer ones provide a good rhythm that many people have difficulty achieving.
Warpspire is the web-based reflection of Kyle Neath. At Warpspire, you can read Kyle’s opinion on nearly every facet of the web from programming to design to web production to web-based advertising. If you’re not a web-geek, don’t dispair. You’ll also find reviews on albums, books, and videos Kyle likes.
Matt Brett

One of the qualities that I hear many people refer to when speaking about the 9rules Network is the great design of the sites. I always worry about this because I don’t want people thinking that we base our decisions on the design of the site or that when we do announce sites that don’t meet the high design standards set by our readers that we are slipping. However, I know it’s not a bad thing when you can get a site like Matt Brett’s into the Network.
What started out as a personal journal has evolved into a site chalk full of amateur game reviews (accompanied by gameplay video and dozens of screenshots), CSS design techniques and tutorials, music that’s been kicking my ass lately and of course the day-to-day, from family to my many professional endeavors.
Recently featured in the Web Standards Awards we wish to welcome Matt with his great design and killer content.
Paul Stamatiou

I was pretty ambitious when I was 19, but I quickly realized that being ambitious doesn’t mean anything unless you actually execute on your ambitions and that is exactly what Paul Stamatiou does. Joining the Network at the old age of 19 I feel as though I have been tracking this kid for the past decade. It’s great to see young people (I love how I talk like I am old) show the passion to write what they care about and also the knowledge to show that they do know what they are talking about.
PaulStamatiou.com ushers in a strong commitment to technology through in-depth reviews and guides with a unique take on every piece of emerging tech news. Paul’s pride comes in his how-to guides; crafted with detailed steps, any beginner can follow along. This blog is all about being up-to-date as seen with frequent posts as soon as there is tech news to be spoken of. Readers are Paul’s first priority. Guide and review suggestions are openly accepted and encouraged.
Welcome Paul.
