Mark Wade

This site poses two problems for 9rules.

  1. The title is just too damn long to use for the frontpage so I have simply called it “Mark Wade”.
  2. The root page screams welcome to 1994 and is probably the complete opposite of what someone expects from the Network. However, we are not introducing the root page, but the wonderful blog hidden beneath it.

Mark has a wonderful way of breaking down blog marketing into terms that anyone can understand. The site is consistently updated and is so filled with useful content that any remnants of the hideous (sorry Mark, that thing is horrendous) root page are quickly forgotten. If you are looking for better ways to promote your blog then make sure to peruse Mark’s archives because I am certain you will find the information you need.

Welcome Mark. Now if we could just get rid of that page…

RSS Feed.

Hmm… this has got to be the first newly added site I don’t completely understand the reasoning behind. Many links in the sidebar lead to extremely spammy looking pages that sometimes spawn popup ads with content in ‘make money fast!’-style…

    Thanks Scrivs!

Sorry, I can’t help but LMAO. I am very thankful you invited me to the forum first :-)

Okay! Okay! My root site is a horror LOL! I admit it! But – I’ll take the traffic and keep cashing those checks hehe…

Man, they don’t call me “Grandpa” for nuthin’. I promise, when I can find the time I’ll do something about it. Meanwhile, I’ll keep doing my best to offer newbies some worthwhile suggestions and hope.

    Lovin’ It!

    Mark

Let me get this out in the open. I am the one that asked Mark to join the site because I was only reading his content. I wasn’t worried about the links on the side, but noticed that he linked to BlogHerald, ProBlogger and other respected sites so I thought nothing of them. I also wasn’t aware of the homepage until after I invited Mark.

With that said we will continue to watch the site and if either start to become a problem and help to worsen the quality of the content or detract from the user’s experience we will take measures.

Just wanted to get that out :)

  4. Marco Says:

Thanks for the explanation. It just struck me as ehm… different compared to the usual sites, that’s all :D

I’ve taken a bit more of a look at Mark’s site. His content isn’t all that bad but I’m slightly appalled by the list of links that advertise products that help people build scraper sites in order to generate revenues with other people’s content. In a way blog networks do the same thing but I’m pretty sure I don’t have to explain the difference between blog networks and content-scraping to anyone.

In my view that seems to go just about 180 degrees against the goals of the 9rules network: high quality ORIGINAL content.

At the risk of coming across as some jealous whiner who might be jealous of not being part of the network himself I thought I’d voice my opinion about this anyway because I feel scraping is going to be the next big blog-disease after comment-spamming. So just to make things clear: I’m not judging Mark’s content which looks not bad at all after reading some articles. I’m addressing the list of links he has to ‘very bad neighborhoods’, to put it mildly. Being very involved in preventing all kinds of blogspam and related annoyances I feel rather strongly about this.

  7. Mark Wade Says:

    Marco,

Would you please contact me and let me know exactly which links you’re talking about? I’d be more than happy to reconsider any of them. I am NOT a proponent of scraping or spam!!!

You can email directly at adminatfreeadcentraldotcom

    Regards,

    Mark

  8. Mark Wade Says:

    Marco,

On second thought – I’ll tell ya’ what – I’ll take off any that I have even the smallest doubt about and THEN you can contact me. Fair enough?

    Regards,

    Mark

  9. Marco Says:

    Hi Mark,

That’s ok… I’ll send you a mail tonight or tomorrow. Did you keep the links? I hope so because then I can send you some explanation on what those offers actually are. Very good to see you’re serious about this!

  10. Mark Wade Says:

    Marco,

No, I’ve already removed/edited a few. Please, check it out.

And feel free to contact me anyway okay?

I am serious about this – I’m willing to work for the benefit of others and myself. And I’m not against admitting if I’m wrong and moving on…

We may disagree, we can talk about it, and come to an agreement – not a problem.

    Regards,

    Mark

On RSS and the coming wave of content theft

Yesterday I spotted the admission of Mark Wade’s Blog Marketing, Blog Promotion for Newbies to the 9rules Network. I was slightly shocked by the fact that Mark’s site had some links to rather dark corners of the internet placed in his weblog’s sideb…

I for one am glad to see another web marketing style blog enter 9rules. I was getting somewhat lonely!

Seriously though I think Mark means well, just sometimes those dollar signs can blind a fellow ;)

  14. Mark Wade Says:

Geez… now I’m ugly AND blind eh? What next?

    Just kiddin’ Thanks Yaro :-)
