I’ve used MT for over a year and I really never liked it. It felt slow, sluggish and not very flexible and it’s written in PERL which happens to be a language I wouldn’t even go and hack around in if people gave me cash or pointed a gun at me (well maybe then I would…;) ). Also MT is the worst when it comes to available spam-protection plugins.

Nah, WP is really the best on the block if you ask me. Ugly admin interface or not. I like Pivot as well and I’m actively developing for it in order to make it better and better but honestly WP is very nice. I’d trade Pivot over WP maybe

khaled, I think the same, WP isn't designed for everyone. Building personal sites baseing on WP - it's like trying to shoot down swallow with ballistic rocket.

One important thing to think of when talking about the admin UI for any weblog platform is for when people hang WP-powered (or MT-powered, or TxP-powered) websites over to clients for them to update. WP isn't just used for regular personal sites, but for massive non-technical-person-updating corporate websites as well.

I've been fine with WordPress since Steve Smith's release of Tiger Admin. One thing I just cannot get with is the Kubrick theme. I don't know if it is the wide iPod look, the coding, or both. I just to ball it up and flush it down the toilet. Anyway, I'm glad to see better things being in the working all the time. Khaled and team, make us proud! :)

Does it really matter that much what an admin backend looks like? I never worked with WP very much (I use Pivot myself) but recently I started hacking into WP because I wanted to port some plugins I wrote for Pivot that turned out to be extremely useful to WP in order to make it available for a larger audience. (it's an anti-comment-spam plugin and most needed: an anti-trackbackspam plugin).

I'm really impressed with WP both in terms of what it can do but also with the plugin API. It just rocks a llama's ass. I cranked out two perfectly working plugins that include database tables and admin screens in just two coding sessions.

I've used MT for over a year and I really never liked it. It felt slow, sluggish and not very flexible and it's written in PERL which happens to be a language I wouldn't even go and hack around in if people gave me cash or pointed a gun at me (well maybe then I would...;) ). Also MT is the worst when it comes to available spam-protection plugins.

Nah, WP is really the best on the block if you ask me. Ugly admin interface or not. I like Pivot as well and I'm actively developing for it in order to make it better and better but honestly WP is very nice. I'd trade Pivot over WP maybe but MT? I actually dumped that in favour of Pivot ;)

p.s. Paul... do you read your mail? :P
