The Spanish submission round has been our most successful round yet

Written by Colin Devroe on September 3, 2005

I’m pretty sure that Paul is sleeping off a night full of celebration, so I figured I would take a moment to let everyone know that yesterday’s Spanish round 1 was the largest round we’ve ever had at 9rules.

We can not begin to tell you how happy we are about this, nor can we describe how excited we are to bring in our Spanish speaking friends into our Network.

Thanks to everyone in the Spanish speaking community for spreading the word and helping us get the word out. This round would have been a complete failure without all of you doing what you do best, and we appreciate it.

Enhorabuena por el éxito obtenido. Era de esperar.

  2. A.C. Says:

I’m getting pretty annoyed by all the spanish comments. Come on people, if you can read english, WRITE english.

  3. beto Says:

Largest round ever? Well, that’s something to ponder about… might it be there are actually more Spanish- than English-speaking active bloggers? Who would have thought.

  4. Colin Devroe Says:

beto: I think it is a testament to the amount of work our Spanish team did to get the word out.

  5. Almaju Says:

The hispanic community demonstrates that it is awake, and this is only the beginning, it also has anxiety to be shown and speak strong.

  6. M. Michán Says:

    /translate mode on
Now the only thing that we can do is wait to be lucky. ;)
Congratulation for the obtained success. It was hopeful.
    /translate mode off

  7. Marcos Says:

Congratulations to all of you, but no piensen que voy a dejar de escribir en español, because i don`t.

  8. Almaju Says:

“Congratulations to all of you, but no piensen que voy a dejar de escribir en español, because i don`t.”

    jajaja , molto bene

  9. M. Michán Says:

Eso! Así me gusta! Reivindicando por nuestro idioma! ;D

    ;P

  10. A.C. Says:

    Attention all spanish:

If you really want your voice heard by LESS people than if you wrote english, fine. I just don’t get why anyone would want that.

Colin: please, PLEASE implement a filter so the rest of us can ignore the spanish stuff by the click of button.

  11. Colin Devroe Says:

A.C. you are entitled to your opinion – and we will have ways to filter by language (obviously people that do not know spanish would have little reason to peruse the Spanish blogs) – however we think that the Spanish community rocks because they write in their native tongue, so keep it up guys!

    Tal vez MENOS sea SUFICIENTE.

    Û·Û·Û·Û·Û·Û·Û·Û·Û·Û·Û·Û·Û·Û·Û·Û·Û·Û·Û·Û·Û·Û·Û·Û·Û·Û·Û·Û·Û·Û·Û·Û·

The spanish language is spoken in more than 25 countries and is the third one in number of speakers of the world.
    Maybe LESS be SUFFICIENT.

  13. leo prieto Says:

A.C., you can always learn Spanish. After all, it’s the second most used language in the US. Having said that, one of the spanish speakers said that it’s much easier to understand english than to write it.

Spanglish rocks!

  14. Mike S. Says:

I would love to learn Spanish. Anyone up for teaching a crazy Canuck the third most spoken language?

  15. Paul; Says:

“The spanish language is spoken in more than 25 countries and is the third one in number of speakers of the world.”

That’s not even close to how widespread English is…

  16. Diana Says:

    and what Paul?

Excuse me, but i supose we DO have the same right to speak in spanish as you have to do it in english.

I have never ever complained about people speaking english in online games, forums, etc… but i’ve seen hundreds and hundreds of english speaking people continously complaining about spanish speaking people and being so rude with them.

English is not THE language, it’s just A language, one of the THOUSANDS spoke in the whole world.
I’m just asking for a bit of tolerance.

I supose you’ve got that word in your english dictionary…

Anyway, cheers for the 9Rules people. Keep up the good work! ^^

  17. Paul Says:

    “and what Paul?”

I was picking up on M. Michán’s point about Spanish being spoken in over 25 countries as if that was something particularly important or a good counter argument to A.C’s point about less people being able to read your words if they were in Spanish as opposed to English. Read my post again and you will see that I never said anywhere that people weren’t allowed to speak Spanish.

  18. Diana Says:

I see that now, I’m sorry. I didn’t get the meaning you intended.

Anyway, my post replied in general to the people complaining about spanish. I just saw your phrase and needed to say what I said.

Sorry if I offended you in anyway and sorry for my english.

I don’t like to repeating my self but anyway…
Maybe LESS is SUFFICIENT if it allows me to speak in MY language.

  20. Paul Says:

“Sorry if I offended you in anyway and sorry for my english.”

No problems, your English is probably better than my Spanish.

“I don’t like to repeating my self but anyway…
Maybe LESS is SUFFICIENT if it allows me to speak in MY language.”

Except that’s not what you said the first time (“Maybe LESS be SUFFICIENT” which doesn’t actually mean anything). If you want to write in Spanish though, that’s fine, so long as you don’t mind a large number of the people visiting this site not being able to read what you say.

Paz ;)

Maybe, the problem is that if I had to make a blog in english I can assure that it would have still fewer visits.

The best thing is that everyone expresses in the language that better could do it. Peace ;)

  22. Almaju Says:

It´s a shame that a lot o people limit her possibilities to learn something new.
    We have an advantage…
We try to speak a one more language, thats way our brain works better.
    It is estimulated.
