Are you ready?

Written by Colin Devroe on June 30, 2005

Round 2 of our site submissions are set to begin at midnight. I’m posting this now so that you have time to prepare (you don’t have to submit at midnight you have 24 hours) and because I may not be around later to watch the cork pop.

If you need any assistance, have any questions regarding round two – here is what you should do.

I will try to make myself available just after midnight if you have any urgent questions or problems. Paul and I will also be available tomorrow to answer any questions you might have – so you can also comment on this post if the matter can wait until tomorrow.

Happy submitting.

Recipes worth sharing

Written by Colin Devroe on June 29, 2005

Wikipes, the 9rules member with the most flavor, has many recipes worth sharing. With the holiday weekend fast approaching, we thought it’d be a good idea to feature a few of those recipes.

With so many to choose from, I decided to focus on the recipes which were specifically geared towards parties, or that can be made in heaps. So without any further ado, here is my list.

Of course no party is complete without the alcohol (at least you won’t get Paul Scrivens to show up to a party that doesn’t have it), and so Wikipes has some great drink recipes too.

Maniacal Rage

I don’t bookmark too many sites anymore since most of them use RSS, but there is one folder in my bookmarks that I return to consistently and that is my “design inspiration” folder. Surprisingly there are only four sites in that folder with one of them being xPad. xPad isn’t being added to the Network, but its creator, Garrett Murray, and his blog is.

When I picture a developer of software, I sort of envision an individual holed up within a room, but when reading Garrett’s writings you get a sense of hanging out with one of your boys. Garrett has added filmmaking to his repertoire and his latest film, The Egregarious Meatball, is a riot.

So with one site we are honored to welcome a great writer, developer and filmmaker.

Notable Words

Written by Scrivs on June 28, 2005

The foundation of the 9rules Network is great writing so it only makes sense to add a site to the network whose main purpose is to showcase sites with great writing. Notable Words was started by current 9rules Network member Garrett Dimon to act like the CSS Vault of content and so far it is doing an excellent job.

There just isn’t enough great writing to be found on the web today and we hope that Notable Words is the site that inspires others to focus more on their content. Welcome.

9rules Submissions Round 2

Written by Scrivs on June 27, 2005

Many people have been wondering when the next round of submissions would be taking place for entry into the 9rules Network and I am happy to announce that we will open them up this Friday starting at 12:00 AM Eastern time. Once again we will only have the window for submissions open for 24 hours so if you are interested in joining make sure to get your entry in between 12:00AM and 11:59PM on July 1st.

We are looking for all types of content-based websites and if your site is different from what we currently offer our readers then even better.

There have been a couple of great discussions concerning the 9rules Network, but the best one to date was started by Matthew Pennell. The entry and the comments go into great detail as to what the network is about and how everyone is starting to view it. If you would like an inside perspective on how things are going for members then you might be interested in Darice’s perspective.

Unforuntately, after the last round was over I missed emailing some of the people who submitted their sites to explain why their site was not accepted into the Network. If you are one of those people do not hesitate to email me at scrivs{AT}9rules.com to let me know of my oversight. I have no excuses for this happening and would like to correct it as soon as possible.
