Goodiesblog.com was founded to highlight promotional items, foodstuffs, and household items of significance which manufactures choose to share with us. We find significance in items which are: innovative, unique, timely or an improvement on a classic theme. We request goodies from manufacturers and update you on our search.

Site is about two weeks old, right now at about 900 visitors a day after boingboing.net coverage, spike and leveling out.

Hi Scrivs. The Smiley Cat blog is about web design, the business of web design and the tools (online and offline) that make it easier and more productive.

I get around 30,000 pageviews a month as far as traffic is concerned.

I am in the middle of a redesign (http://www.smileycat.com/redesign/ – early days yet) by which I plan to bring my blog more to the forefront of my site and drive more traffic to it.

I enjoy Whitespace and Work Boxers and look forward to being part of your network.

    Regards,
    Christian

  13. Britt Parrott Says:

It might even be possible that what constitutes the value of those good and respected things, consists precisely in their being insidiously related, knotted, and crocheted to these evil and apparently opposed things—perhaps even in being essentially identical with them. Perhaps! But who wishes to concern himself with such dangerous Perhapses? (Friedrich Nietzsche)

    I do, damn it!

  14. PJ English Says:

  16. David Hund Says:

My (personal) website/weblog about ‘Values-Based Webdesign’, sporting the obvious portfolio and articles on CSS and all the other obvious standards-talk.

The emphasis, however, will be on ‘Values’ rather than ‘Standards’. Call them ‘Personal Standards’ :-)

While the discussion on webstandards will (hopefully) continue to be relevant and helpful, there are a gazillion site out there doing a good job arguing about semantics etc.

I am focussing on the more ‘personal’ aspects in webdesign business: your personal values as a designer/business. Things like Honesty, Integrity, Time-Management, Client-Centered Design, CR, etc.

In the end: those things prove to be far more important ‘in the business’ that whether you use B or STRONG tags for emphasis…

  17. Chris Tingom Says:

BrainFuel is a daily blog with 5 different authors. Most of whom work in the web development field.

We regularily review different web sites, talk about technology and business issues facing design, as well as your random Friday afternoon photo caption contest.

  19. Dan Harper Says:

Deconstructing Linux for the average computer user.

  20. mediamelt (James Bruehl) Says:

We are a film-geek related blog, started in 2003, that updates several times a day. The main page says most of it all..

“This is not a movie news page, although there may be news here. We create articles based on fact, rumor, analysis and opinion (not hype and press releases) in an effort to create conversation. There is no white rabbit.”

In other words, we blog on anything film related that movie fans might be interested in. Most of our contributers are between the ages of 20 to 30 years of age, meaning our interests lean more towards the Star Wars, Batman, Comic book movie, sci-fi genre’s. We already have decent traffic, amazing traffic this past month thanks to one heavily linked article. So much so I had to beg for bandwidth help from my readers just today.

A summary of our traffic in the last seven months, in unique hits…

    October: 44,139
    November: 57,141
    December: 143,809
    January: 82,148
    February: 72,447
    March: 124,181

So as you can see we are growing at a pretty solid clip. I haven’t found a real solid way to benefit financially from the site yet however. I have a moral resistance to pop-ups, unders, interstitials etc but am open to ads that are either a) targeted and b) unobtrusive and not-annoying. I’m sure the network would benefit from FilmRotation’s inclusion.

    A few questions…

    1) As a member of the network, do we keep complete control over the ads shown, how they are displayed etc.

    2) Affiliate programs are currently keeping us afloat. Would we be able to keep these programs?

    3) What specifically would 9rules do for us?

    Thanks for your consideration…

QueerClick is a website that scours the latest gay-related news, interesting tidbits, and the best porn available on the net. Our blog format (updated several times a day) ensures the return and continual visit from a largely gay-oriented audience from around the world. We’re relatively new, but we’re enjoying very encouraging page views of about 25,000 a day. We also have a Free Gallery which is the other big draw of the site, seeing about 200 registrations each day. A forum will be added to the site very soon. We have established very good working/partner relationships with Content providers.

  32. Andrew Says:

I should have a complete overhaul soon (May 1st Reboot) but the basic focus will be literature, politics and design. It will likely be comparitive to Seth Godin.

  33. Brian Rose Says:

  40. Uffe Says:

Right, first I should confess that I haven’t really put that much work into the site yet. I’ve been very busy and I will continue being busy during the next couple of months due to my moving across the country. But once I get things sorted out I’m going to work a lot more on the site, and that’s basically why I sign up now – because I don’t know when the next sign up round will take place.

Now, as for the site goes, it’s pretty much self explanatory.
The design stands out from the rest of the sites in the same niche, and content WILL come once I get the time.
Some of my affiliate account managers has said that the site has great potential simply because of the design.

One of the choices I made was not to implement a lot of ads, including AdSense, simply because ads makes sites ugly (most of the time anyway). That will probably change, once I get more traffic.

    Well, I think that’s it.

  42. James AkaXakA Says:

Although we just have pre-launch counter-strike source map pack site up (and the best visited map pack site I may add) for now, we will have a full on game community site.

The general themes will revolve around the play/work/learn mantra to differentiate ourselves from other gaming sites.

Take note that this also means we won’t be a site like Insert25 where news-(re)posting is the main focus.

And yes, I’m the same “AkaXakA” that you’ve talked to before about collaboration.

    Sincerely,

    James

  43. Victor Johnson Says:

Frame By Frame is a blog all about digital video: shooting, editing, production, distribution, the works.

Currently I write a good, solid article about once a week, but I’m trying to increase this number by interspersing the week with shorter articles on the details of working with DV (kind of like the way Creative Bits talks about Photoshop).

The site is fairly new and still working its way into the search engines, but it already has a handful of readers. I think the topic and the blog would be a welcome addition to the 9rules Network.

  44. Geoff Tipton Says:

This is a blog about issues in the background screening industry. I haven’t found any other blogs in this niche. There’s a lot about the industry that people don’t understand, and I’m trying to get information about background checking out there and push for more standards. It’s a new site (since late Feb), but link traffic is starting to pick up. It’s been indexed, but it’s still in Google’s sandbox. Keyword payoff is high so it could be very successful if I can keep writing quality content.

  45. Neil Morrow Says:

A personal blog with oddities and obscurities at it’s base.

The personal blog of an oddly obscure boy.

  46. Gordon McLean Says:

  47. Matthew Roach Says:

My hosting providers are currently moving servers so the site my not be avaiable for a day or two.

    What?
Cyclocrossworld.co.uk is a website for anyone and everyone who is intrested in cyclo-cross. It is a place where you can find out about cyclo-cross in the UK and information about GB riders abroad.

    Why?
We set up this website to bring all cyclo-cross information into one place instead of all over the web.

    Bit of History
Cyclocrossworld.co.uk wasa first launched in July 2003 ready for the 2003 – 2004 season. With the website being more of a success than we thought it brought for a lot of changes to me made.

    What is Cyclo-Cross
Cyclo-Cross is The original form of off-road cycle racing. Courses are usually based on a circuit of one to two miles in length, with a number of laps to be covered. The course include a variety of surfaces, including road, grassland and woodland paths, there are and obstacles where riders have to dismount and carry the bikes, also there may be a grass bank they have to run up. Its mainly a winter sport so it can get pretty muddy, also you could be racing on snow over the christmas period.

Blueprint for Financial Prosperity is a personal finance blog that I created to help put into words some financial concepts I didn’t fully understand or know about. The topics touch upon a wide range that include discussions of financial television shows, recent bank deposit offerings, and financial product reviews. My belief is that if there is something I don’t understand, chances are someone else doesn’t understand it either so if I explain it, we all will learn something.

The site is in a ezine type format – but ultimately it is a group blog. We are focusing on Vietnamese Americans – a small group and very underrepresented online.

  64. Gnash Says:

A site with opinion and observational pieces with perhaps an unnatural obsession with the evil which is Star Jones. Items also include strange or cool items as I find them.

Updates are usually daily (may go another day if working on a longer article as I am now).

I like 9rules and I like the concept and would definately be interested in joining the network.

  65. Nicole Simon Says:

Useful Sounds is my english blog, in short one may describe it as a blog with a sexy voice added (not my comment, one reader wrote me that ;o).

Main thing on the blog is my podcast and my soundfiles, accompanied by other tech / business stuff, as I am requested tester and idea woman for stuff (concepts, software, presentations – you name it)

As the business side of 9rules is only vaguely described but sure interseting for possible :

    - as I can see from my search results, I have fairly requested good results on my soundfiles and podcasts

    - people are also interested in reading the blog entries, which means, they come to the website also.

    - as people like niched websites, I am thinking about transfering the testing / feedback / business part out of this blog to increase density of desired content for the reader / listener.

    - people like updated content: I do several German blogs and only started Useful Sounds in english in november last year, but from my other blogs the continuity can be seen.

Why am I interested in 9rules?
Mainly because I am a playful person. And I love everything, which gets people more into blog reading.

Speaking of possible revenues: I know the reactions of people both on my blog as on the additional goodies (my sounds) plus I have made sure to have enough bandwith.

I probably have to add: At the moment I have a redesign going on to make my sound snippets easier available, because this increases the time the reader spends on the website while trying out all of the sound files.

Either way, have a successful start! :o )
    Greetings from Germany
    Nicole

** It Could Be Worse **

I write about stuff that interests me: football (soccer to you overponders), design (web/product/communication), accessibility and faith; when that runs out, there’s always impending fatherhood to keep me busy.

Oh, and all from a perspective on life that keeps me cheerful: someone else somewhere likely has it worse than you.

  76. Ben Strackany Says:

So, you’re going to get a million applications today. :) What’s different about me & my site is
    - good PR
    - hundreds of thousands of content pages
    - software development niche
    - I’m a very good programmer, which could come in handy.

    Details:
DevelopmentNow has two main sections. The first is my blog (/blog), which has a good PR & is geared towards software developers. It has good quality but low traffic right now. If you’re only looking for blogs then you can just look at that. If I were in 9 rules I’d probably blog more often than I do now, which is a few times a week.

The second part of DevelopmentNow is a large, programmer-oriented newsgroup archive. It has hundreds of thousands of pages and is where most of my traffic comes from. And where most of my time goes. :) Low PR, though, and it’s tough to get super-accurate ads for all the pages. But the sheer number of pages (& hundreds more each day) means it kinda runs itself. And with some optimization & better ranking it could pay off.

As far as I go, I’m not a great designer, but I’m a bright, clever, & productive programmer. I’m very business-focused, & I like to contribute. I also think I have good ideas, and eventually I’d like to move beyond blogging & make a real living off of a web-based company.

    Lastly, today’s my birthday.

A blog about our first homebuying experience. We purchased a “fixer-upper” and are using the blog to share both the first-time homebuyers experience, as well as the home renovation aspect. Eventually we would like more readership so that we can gain valuable input and insight from others with more experience in certain areas of the home renovation process. For example, we’re planning on installing radiant heating in the bathroom floor. We’d love to hear feedback from people who can provide insight as to whether we should go electric or hot water for the heat source. We would then follow-up with our experience, from purchase to installation to a review of it a few months down the road.

A blog for me to talk about things that I see relevant about the internet, mostly focused on coding and new technologies. The back-end has been built by me and I am happy with that but the content doesn’t seem to be attracting many readers.

  115. Ryan Latham Says:

I think you know what it is all about. I would also like for DefineBlog (http://www.defineblog.com) to be taken into consideration.

I don’t know what other info I should present; ums does pretty well, but as you have said, more traffic is always better. It makes a little bit of skrilla daily, but nothing to do cartwheels over.

DefineBlog has already started to do pretty well. A lot of that has to do with the title, and search engines. It was meant to be a high search engine traffic site, shady, perhaps…critical thinking you betcha.

I am also contemplating another project, but it hasn’t been set in stone yet, so we’ll have to see.

Expect to hear from you soon.
